wirtz-van-quickenborne-finalZetes (Euronext Brussels: ZTS), a leading European supplier of solutions for the automatic identification of goods and people, announces that its CEO, Alain Wirtz, has been elected “ICT Personality of the Year” by Data News, a Belgian leading ICT information magazine.

For 10 years, the Data News Awards for Excellence have been rewarding Belgian ICT companies that have differentiated themselves during the past year. On this occasion, a ceremony has been organised on Wednesday April 29th, at Tour & Taxis (Brussels) in presence of Mr. Vincent Van Quickenborne, Federal Minister for Enterprise & Reform.

This award recognises Zetes’ achievements over the past years. The company has been founded by Mr. Wirtz in 1984, who believed in the potential of barcoding as a technology to help retailers identifying and managing their products. Over the years, Zetes has grown continuously. It has become international and had diversified its activities, always on the lookout for new possibilities by integrating innovating technologies. In Goods Identification, the solutions that are developed and implemented by Zetes allow companies to optimise their processes, increase their productivity and, as a consequence, better face the competition. In People Identification, the customers of the company are essentially public administrations willing to manage the information about their citizens securely and efficiently.

“I am honoured to receive this award”, says Alain Wirtz, “but Zetes’ success is built on the work and commitment of our staff. Our growth relies for a great deal on a strategy of acquisitions and one of our main challenges has often been to successfully integrate new subsidiaries and adhere their staff to our philosophy. I would therefore like to thank all those who have helped Zetes to become the company it is today and who will continue to support its growth in the future.”
