23rd December 2008, witnessed the production of the last ever single temperature SL unit at the Thermo King plant in Galway. Since its introduction in 1998 over 100,000 SL units have been produced in order to meet demand and maintain its market-leading position.
Hailed as the most successful trailer refrigeration unit ever and the predecessor of the SLX, the highly acclaimed SL range has been instrumental in providing innovative solutions to meet the needs of the refrigerated transport industry
Since the introduction of the SL range, Thermo King has strived to build and develop the next generation of temperature control systems. Launched in 2008, the SLX range has been responsible for delivering significant savings on fuel consumption, high performance and low operating noise.
Launched to build on the market-leading SL range, the SLX directly responds to customer needs for maximum performance, minimal environmental impact and low cost of ownership. The SLX design team optimised the refrigeration system for significant performance gains. This means that engine operating speeds have been reduced, but with no loss in cooling capacity or airflow. Slower engine speeds give a quieter engine which uses less fuel, and prolongs the life of moving parts.
Early indications show that the SLX range looks set to become even more successful than its predecessor and feedback from operators and end-users highlights the benefits of introducing the new products.
