joe_grealy_jpgJoe Grealy, Thermo King’s director for Strategic Industry Relations, has accepted for the third time the position of President of the Consultative Technical Committee of Transfrigoroute International.  This complex position has a varied role including managing the work of the CCT management committee, who in turn runs the various technical projects undertaken. The projects are assigned to the CCT by the national committee of Transfrigoroute International.

The CCT plays a crucial role in supporting the businesses of operating members and transporters, through the advancement of technical updates and monitoring of developments, regulatory and technical issues. The CCT monitors all issues which may negatively impact on the sustainability, profitability or competitiveness of the transporters in the temperature controlled sector.

The CCT President acts as a consultant to the Presidium of Transfrigoroute International and also sits on the Presidium in order to help support on important issues. Over the last six years the CCT operation has changed significantly to include joint working groups formed with representatives from both the industrial members (manufacturers of insulated vehicles, refrigeration equipment and HGVs) and the transporters.

Commenting on his role, Joe Grealy said: “I plan to continue to represent the interests of the transport companies in our sector by continually monitoring developments within the industry. Also, to oppose any development such as unnecessary bureaucratic systems, which could potentially add costs to transport operations, without adding any value.

“Transport is a much maligned and misunderstood industry that receives much unwarranted bad press. I would like to continue to inform the public of the critical role that transport plays in the economic life of the world. Temperature controlled transport plays an even greater role to support everyone’s lives, which is not always understood or appreciated by either the public or the administrators. The sector provides consumers with a vast choice of foods, all year round, and is a key link in the cold chain that protects public health and safety.

“The temperature controlled transport sector has made significant strides in the area of lowering emissions and noise and will continue to help to offer the consumers the range of foods, while minimising the impact on the environment.

“Finally, I want to see Transfrigoroute International being more pro-active with legislators at both national and EU levels by consistently promoting the work of the organisation on behalf of the refrigerated transport sector.”
