Many companies claim long life spans for their products through accelerated testing, but Sika-Trocal licensed contractor CA Single Ply went back on site to a 30 year old job and the roof was still performing.
30 years ago Auto Advances Ltd had a Sika-Trocal roofing solution installed and has even kept the original paperwork and guarantee. Although the main roof was still in good condition, there were signs of localised ageing so the client brief was to carry out a re-roof, making it look as close as possible to the original when it was first installed.
Over 350m2 of light grey Sika-Trocal Type S was mechanically fixed and due to the considerable changes in building regulations, CA Single Ply installed a layer of insulation to meet the current thermal requirements. As this was a mechanically fixed application on an existing concrete deck a pull-out test had to be carried out by the fixing manufacturer, in order to determine the correct fastener products for the project.
The project was completed in just 2 weeks and the client was delighted as Tony Wadsworth, managing director of CA Single Ply comments: “This was a great project to be involved in.
