PPS provide crate washing service for meat processing plant

PPS Management Equipment has recently provided crate washing services to a major meat processor, whose plant was undergoing extensive development and refurbishment. Manufacturing own label and customer branded meat products, the processing company already operated very strict hygiene procedures and had its own onsite wash facilities, but due to an ongoing program of refurbishment, they could not continue this operation on site. Therefore, PPS was able to respond by offering them excess wash capacity at their Measham site for a period of several weeks or, until they could safely get access to their own wash facilities.

Following successful wash trials at the PPS factory, using samples of soiled plastic crates and overseen by the customer’s own personnel, a contract was placed with PPS to provide a short term solution. The clean plastic crates are dried and shrink-wrapped to be returned to the meat processor for ongoing service.

PPS Equipment Management is involved in the rental and management of Returnable Transit Equipment (RTE). Director, Iain McArthur reported on the development of PPS Wash services saying, “PPS set up the state-of-the-art wash facility primarily to wash its own pool of plastic crates and pallets, which are used mainly within the food and meat processing industry. However as we planned, the bespoke high-specification wash equipment was so efficient, it enabled us to offer the excess wash capacity to any third party requiring the service. PPS will undertake long, medium or short term contracts, one-off washes or support customers with increases due to seasonal demands.
The service and system is very flexible and since the new wash lines have been installed, PPS has successfully washed crates, attached lid boxes, collapsible crates, plastic pallets and even certain wheeled dollies.

But rather than taking our word for it, we offer any customer the opportunity to bring RTE products along and we will demonstrate the effectiveness of the wash facilities and finish achievable on their own product.”
