cul_genmill.jpgCulina Logistics has secured a major two-year contract renewal with General Mills, owners and manufacturers of the leading Mexican food brand, Old El Paso. Old El Paso produces traditional Mexican dishes in a wide range of dinner kits, including fajita, burrito, enchilada and taco, along with cooking sauces, chillies, dips, refried beans, seasoning and taco shells. In addition to Old El Paso, multi-temperature grocery specialist Culina stores over 170 SKUs (stock keeping units) for General Mills covering Betty Crocker, Green Giant and Nature Valley product lines at its central UK site in Wolverhampton.

Additional services include stock management, online tracking and POD (proof of delivery) that provides key management information.
Culina receives orders by EDI (electronic data interchange), which are picked, packed and despatched to the UK’s leading supermarket retailers and wholesalers via the company’s shared-user network. Around 12,800 deliveries are made a year.

Daniel Woodhead, ambient logistics manager at General Mills, says: “Since we entrusted our logistics operation to the company in 2000 it has provided a very effective supply chain solution.

“As a result, we’re delighted to renew our contract and look forward to developing our relationship further to meet retailer’s demanding delivery requirements.”

As well as Old El Paso, General Mills markets some of the world’s best-known food brands, including Häagen-Dazs ice cream, Jus-Rol pastry and Green Giant sweetcorn.
