blanco.jpgCountrywide Healthcare Supplies, one of the largest suppliers to care homes in the UK, is implementing specialist vehicle scheduling software from AutoLogic Systems Ltd. The software will automate their NHS delivery process planning and reduce transport costs. Although the ‘Direct Route’ software from Appian Logistics, one of the top 100 Logistics IT software providers in the US, is now established globally it has more recently been introduced to the UK market. It allows simple data import, interfaces with ERP systems such as Epicor and Infor and can handle the largest and most complex scheduling problems.

Extensions available for Direct Route include real time reporting of vehicle progress against schedule, which provides controlled access for employees, and customers if required, to monitor status and track the progress of vehicles and orders. AutoLogic Systems is the sole European distributor for the software.

The NHS team at Countrywide Healthcare provides home delivery services to over 10,000 clients covering 7,000 square miles with 50,000 plus deliveries a year.

John Spray of Countrywide Healthcare comments: “Although the quality of our service is excellent, we know there are opportunities to reduce the time spent planning loads as well as our transport costs. The environmental impact is also high with too much paper and fuel being used. We recognised that our present manual system was grossly inefficient and began a search to find the right system that answered all our problems.”

After a comprehensive review of the market, Countrywide turned to specialist software provider for logistics and warehousing, AutoLogic Systems Ltd.

John concludes: “We are looking forward to benefitting from not only an improvement in efficiencies of labour but also significant reductions in our dispatch time and mileage.”
