SSI Schaefer has appointed Mike Alibone as Business Development Manager for the Systems Group with one aim in mind – to develop and grow Schaefer’s automation business within the UK. With over 26 years experience in logistics, Alibone brings a wealth of industry knowledge and expertise with him, having spent the last ten years in account management and sales of materials handling systems to top-end retail distribution operations.
Alibone has previously managed all aspects of distribution-warehousing, including the set up of a new UK distribution operation for one American vacuum cleaner manufacturer and the set up of a multi-user warehouse for a third party logistics operator before moving on to become logistics sales manager for a Netherlands-based systems integrator.
Aware of Schaefer’s reputation as highly successful, innovative and one of the UK’s leading providers of cuttings edge technology within the field of storage and materials handling, Alibone said: “SSI Schaefer has a great future ahead which is why I was so keen to accept the challenge to develop the automation side of the business.”
Alibone continued: “I want to add significant value to the company by expanding into markets in which the company is not prevalent, most notable retail distribution and e-commerce. The materials handling market is by no means saturated with providers and I hope to build on its already successful reputation within automation.”
The future for Schaefer is very clear in Alibone’s eyes, he is confident that Schaefer will capitalise on its uniquely innovative approach to solutions development as more companies acknowledge the benefits of implementing automated systems and embrace new technologies which deliver efficiency gains in intralogistics.
