Union Industries, the market leading manufacturer of the Matadoor range of Hi Speed Doors, has helped salmon feed manufacturer Biomar increase productivity at its warehouse in Grangemouth. Three large Ramdoors have been installed at the facility in Grangemouth Docks, to reduce the amount of time the warehouse doors are left open. The doors also provide an additional benefit by preventing birds searching for food from flying into the warehouse.
Measuring four metres square, the Ramdoors are installed to the external openings, allowing traffic to travel quickly from Biomar’s warehouses to the loading canopies and large loading yard.
The Ramdoors are dedicated for the exclusive use by forklift trucks transporting products around the site, where they are automatically activated by motion sensors set up to ignore pedestrians and only respond to the mass of the vehicles.
The 1.6m/second fast operating speeds of the Ramdoors not only reduce the amount of time the doors are left open, but also play a major role in tackling environmental concerns such as heat loss and the spread of dirt and contamination through the open doorways. The Ramdoors are only open for the optimum time required for a forklift to travel through the openings.

Union’s Ramdoors feature a unique ‘Crash-out’ facility, designed to minimise damage to the Bottom Beam if hit by a Forklift. It has heavy duty Bolt-on Side Guides that can be easily replaced if accidentally impacted. The Ramdoors are tough with heavy duty steel columns and hard wearing anti-static and fire retardant 2-ply ‘Ramhide’ door blade fabric made to withstand the worst of weathers. Also as standard the doors are armed with 12 Health & Safety features.
