rds.jpgWith operational safety coming under increased scrutiny, particularly the consequences of overloading, RDS Technology has responded with a new range of on-board load-monitoring systems specifically designed for forklift trucks. In order to ensure the forklift does not exceed rated lifting capacity and therefore run the risk of tip-over, the Liftalert informs the operator of load as a percentage of the preset maximum capacity.  A hydraulic load sensor is used to measure the increase in system pressure and when the overload threshold is approached and at the overload point, integral visual and audible alarms will inform the operator of load status. This helps the driver to avoid accidents, increasing the safety of the forklift and surrounding area.

The Liftlog 100 is an extension of the Liftalert’s functionality.  Alongside the overload warning alarms, it also displays the load as a live ?weight.  This permits the operator to safely load vehicles and storage systems without risk of exceeding the permitted weight capacity.

An optional external audible alarm and also a visual load indication light bar are available for both instruments to further reinforce overload warnings to the operator.  The light bar signals load status from 50 to 110% of maximum load giving further immediate and important visual load indication to the operator and supervisor.

Complementing the forklift weighing range is the SID 200.  This is a speed and distance-monitoring instrument that warns the operator when the vehicle travels in excess of the site speed limit and logs occurrences of and distances travelled at overspeed in a protected memory.

Competitively priced and easy to use, these systems maintain accuracy and are ideal for load monitoring and weighing in a variety of environments.  Above all these systems can help control forklift activity and help the operator keep within recommended limits, ensuring both the operation of the machine and the site are kept as safe as possible.
