One of the world’s leading supply chain companies, CEVA Logistics rallied industry support for a Midsummer Madness golf challenge. Fifty-six golfers participated, completing five rounds of golf in just one day, raising £25,000 to support Macmillan Cancer Support, the British Heart Foundation and Transaid. The event was held at The Warwickshire, a flagship course in Leek Wootton.

CEVA Logistics received a record number of enquiries from customers and suppliers about this year’s challenge, so the company decided to make the event bigger and better, involving more golfers. The event, now in its third year, continues to be a great fundraising success. In 2006 five teams of four golfers completed a challenge organised by Macmillan Cancer Support. They played four full rounds of golf in one day raising £8,000. The second challenge took place in 2007 raising £12,000, involving five rounds of golf and raising funds for Macmillan, BHF and Transaid.

This year’s teams included: Barloworld, Scania plus, GE – Tip, Miele, Newtown, Scania, HMF (UK) Limited, Central Fire Protection, GE Capital, Greyflex, Mercedes, Lancashire DAF and PPS Commercials and Akzo Nobel. The first team teed off at 4.00am on 17 June. A number of companies also sponsored holes, such as: CEVA Logistics, HMF (UK) Limited, Sovereign Office, Sportsmen in Business, Extra Personnel, Keltruck, Mercedes, Vtech, East Midlands Vehicle Hire, Calor Gas, Newtown, Gerard Mann, ATS, MLM and Macmillan & Wright.

“Raising £25,000 in just one day for such effective charities will be an outstanding effort by all concerned,” said Rupert Nichols, Director and Charity Trustee for CEVA Logistics.
