wincanton.jpgThe UK’s leading logistics specialists Wincanton, have chosen Solo 4 Systems to implement their latest Warehouse and Bond Management software at their newly opened Ross-on-Wye depot. The modern, 200,000 sq ft depot was opened in February 2008 to accommodate the newly acquired Somerfield Stores bonded goods storage and distribution contract.

“Wincanton are extremely pleased to be providing a range of warehousing and distribution soloutions for Somerfield ” says Chris Shuttleworth, Ross on Wye Project Manager. “We have the expertise and experience to provide a first class service to blue chip customers like Somerfield and feel confident that the systems we have put in place will enhance our operation.”

“We needed a system that was robust and compliant to new SAD Harmonisation legislation with easy implementation and Solo 4’s range of solutions suited the requirements” said Chris. “The installation timescales were very tight and Solo4 were extremely proactive in helping to meet the operational deadline for the contract.”

The systems will provide management of receipt, storage and despatch of bonded product to all of Somefield’s distribution centres. The longer term aim is to upgrade the depot to a distribution centre and then to ship directly to all Somerfield stores across the UK.
The Solo4 Bond Management Module will also provide the control and reporting to HMRC of all revenue requirements. The system also provides direct interface to Wincanton and Somerfield host systems for order receipt, despatch confirmation and automated update of stock records and new products.
