CEVA Logistics, one of the leading supply chain companies in the world, has signed a contract with KAB Seating – the UK subsidiary of the global organisation of Commercial Vehicle Group (CVG) – to manage international shipping activities of inbound and outbound freight transported to and from the UK. CEVA also takes control of KAB Seating’s UK collection and distribution activities.

KAB Seating is part of the Construction division of CVG. The company specialises in the manufacture and supply of comfortable, practical work seats for various types of vehicles. The company’s world leader status comes from the many years of experience within seat design, development and production. Seats are supplied to the commercial, construction, agricultural, industrial, mining, bus/coach and mobility sectors. KAB Seating has developed a world-wide distribution network. It also has operations in China, North America, Sweden, Belgium, Australia, North America and France. The KAB Seating UK headquarters employs over 700 people and covers an area of 21,000 square metres.

The smart solution CEVA is providing to KAB Seating includes supplier liaison and collections, and distribution of products to KAB Seating’s UK customer base. The contract will operate from KAB Seating’s manufacturing plant in Northampton, where CEVA operates a number of shared-user and dedicated vehicles.

“Working with CEVA will enable us to introduce a number of efficiencies across our operation. We now have better visibility of our inbound supply chain and are able to extract maximum value from this flow of materials,” said Gordon Boyd, President CVG Global Construction.
“CEVA Logistics is delighted to work with KAB Seating to manage their supply chain. By providing KAB Seating with freight management and logistics services, KAB is able to optimise CEVA’s complementary end to end supply chain service. The contract has also enabled CEVA to strengthen its UK position in the automotive market, where we have already played a significant role for many years,” said Rob McWhirter, Managing Director, Business Development, CEVA Logistics.

CEVA works in partnership with KAB Seating in a number of markets. In Australia CEVA manages container shipments; and in China CEVA provides container shipment collections/consolidation services for onward despatch of KAB Seating’s products to the UK.
