stiller-tankers.jpgFurther expanding the capacity and capability of its bulk powder transport service, Stiller Group has announced the acquisition of the assets and trade of South Yorkshire-based James Durrans Transport Ltd, the bulk powder transport division of James Durrans & Sons Ltd. With immediate effect, the business will transfer to Stiller Tankers Ltd, the tankers division of Stiller Group currently serving the chemicals, fuels and bulk powders industries throughout the UK.

The acquisition sees the Stiller Tankers fleet expand by a total of 18 tractor units and 21 tanker/trailers. The company will continue to service the requirements of James Durrans & Sons Ltd as well as a portfolio of other clients moving bulk powders.
Completing this acquisition is an important element of Stiller Group’s strategy to grow business within the bulk powder transport sector, increasing market share and expanding facilities for both new and existing customers. The acquisition expands Stiller Tankers’ capabilities into the food grade and environmental markets and further afield into continental Europe.

Commenting for Stiller Group, Managing Director Ian Marshall underlines the synergy between the two businesses. “This acquisition gives us a strong and expanding equipment platform from which to continue to grow our established tanker division,” he stated. “The Durrans portfolio is a perfect fit with our current business profile, as culturally the two companies are very similar and share many of the same very focused business aims and values.”

As part of Stiller Tankers, the business will continue to operate from its existing base in Barugh Green, Barnsley, a convenient location close to the M1 and also to one of Stiller Group’s key operational transport and warehousing sites in Darton. The existing team will continue to manage the business on a day to day basis, assisted and supported by Stiller Group’s established management structure.
