MANITOU UK Limited recorded an impressive end of year financial result for 2007 with a total turnover in excess of £100 million which was generated from the sales of MANITOU product into the agricultural, construction and industrial sectors. The World’s number one in rough terrain handling specialise in the supply of telescopic handlers, masted forklifts, powered access platforms, truck-mounted forklifts, industrial forklifts and warehousing equipment. The demand for quality build handling machinery continues to strengthen MANITOU UK dealer distribution, resulting in the total sales of MANITOU machines in the UK increasing by 13% in 2007.
Industry Range
A recent area of expansion has been in the industrial sector with the acquisition by MANITOU of a bespoke manufacturing facility producing the smaller capacity core products including IC engine trucks, counterbalanced 3 and 4 wheeled electrical trucks which complement existing factories in France supplying warehousing equipment, powered access and higher capacity forklifts (4,000kg to 7,0000kg). 2007 saw an increase in industrial sales with a multiple deal from Hydro Polymers for thirty MANITOU Industry products being the highlight and the ability of MANITOU to offer the full range from warehousing equipment to diesel and electric trucks a critical factor.
Powered Access
In 2007 MANITOU UK introduced the 150TP MANIACCESS working platform telescopic boom at SED 2007, the UK construction event of the year. Popular selling models were the 80/105 VJR (Vertical Jib Rotation) models because of their excellent compact dimensions, outreach and reliability. Sales in 2007 for the MANIACCESS range continued to grow as a result of improved distribution through the existing MANITOU dealer network. The MANITOU expansion programme for 2008 is to achieve an additional 21% sales increase in powered access.
After Sales Support
The MANITOU UK replacement parts business grew by 10% in 2007 and with the 23 million EURO investment in the new Logistics Centre in Ancenis, France, MANITOU are committed to providing a fast and efficient parts supply service to UK customers. New management and optimisation systems have been implemented resulting in high volume parts processing, improving warehousing and transportation procedures to react to the increasing worldwide demands for genuine MANITOU parts.
