Phillip Blackman from Halifax , West Yorks was the best student on the MSc Logistics and Supply Chain Management programme at Hull. His prize was a cheque for £200 and a specially designed trophy. Phillip chose to study at Hull as he considered it to have the best facilities in the country for this sort of course. Phillip is now working for the Boots Group as an Assistant Supply Chain Manager for dietary and weight and hopes to move into the area of warehouse efficiency management in the future.

Dr Tim Butcher, MSc Logistics & Supply Chain Management (SCM) Programme Leader, University of Hull Logistics Institute said: “We aim to offer our MSc Logistics and SCM students the very latest thinking from academia and firsthand insights into industry best practice. Hence we work with practitioners and professional bodies to provide guest speakers from industry, in-company projects, and ‘logistics safaris’. We are also very pleased to have the Multipart annual award for a student who demonstrates exceptional performance. Such industrial collaborations are fundamental to the success of our programme.”

“Our graduates are therefore well equipped to step straight into careers in logistics and SCM and advance the profession. Phil Blackman is just one of our graduates who has done just that, his performance throughout his year with us was exemplary. It was therefore fitting that he received the Multipart award in recognition of his achievements on the programme.”

Philip was presented with his award by Julie Croston, Marketing and PR Multipart, at the graduation ceremony on January 2008. “We were pleased to be able to present the Multipart award to Phillip for his excellent achievement. As markets become more complex in terms of customer service demands, logistics is key to successful business. It is crucial that industry and education work together to match the future needs of business.”
